To rank the top 10 Italian fashion blogs, our staff has reviewed and analysed over two hundred blogs.

We define a blog as Wikipedia cites: “a website, usually maintained by an individual or an entity, in which the author (the blogger) regularly posts their thoughts, opinions, reflections and other considerations in a sort of online diary, along with possibly other types of materials such as images or video. The word blog is a contraction of web and log, or 'diary on the net'.

Through blogs, the ability to publish documents on the World Wide Web has evolved from a privilege of the few (publishers, universities and research centres) to the right of everyone (bloggers).”

On this basis, we excluded from our ranking all blogs that call themselves such, but are obviously not. In particular, we excluded:

  1. newspapers
  2. newspapers disguised as blogs
  3. blogs that rely on extensive editorial or a large number of employees (a true blog is run by one person, so we have included those with, at most, only one employee)
  4. blogs that collect advertising through advertising dealers (because it is clear that the dealers do not work with bloggers, they work only with consolidated publishing houses)
  5. blogs that are not allocated to a single individual, but projected to wider and institutional publishing projects
  6. blogs run anonymously
  7. blogs of professional journalists or editors of glossy magazines, who write for big publishing groups already and benefit from a press office, or who are hosted on the sites of newspapers for which they write or manage
  8. blogs that have already earned a reputation so as to be absorbed by well-established newspapers (paid collaborations)
  9. blogs hosted by publishing group sites
  10. wiki: a wiki is a site that allows the creation of content by multiple users (for example, Wikipedia is an encyclopedia made by anyone who wants to contribute).

We considered only blogs that have decided to maintain their independence, to remain authentic and free.
With reference to the various types of blogs, we did not apply any restrictions: we analyzed blogs run by students, by retailers, by passionate stylists, by vintage enthusiasts, outfit blogs, more intellectual blogs, etc.

Among the blogs taken into account (which were over two hundred), the top 10 blogs turned out to be outfit blogs.

We did not assess the quality, we evaluated the numbers. The top 10 ranking blogs are the ones who get the best results in terms of audience and visibility. We have done this research for our readers who want to know exactly what are the most popular blogs, the ones worth investing in. We do not necessarily think that these are the 10 best blogs. There are the blogs that are the most popular and clicked on.
The first blog in the ranking, well ahead of the second, is The Blonde Salad by Chiara Ferragni.

The Blonde Salad has become a potential competitor of traditional publishers (of course only in the Internet-blog-outfit segment), because it produces business. It is used by fashion companies for product placement. The visibility of the products is very wide indeed. For fashion companies, it is a medium in which to invest.

Chiara Ferragni was clever to invent a business at the right time. She managed to ride the phenomenon well in advance of all others and continues to be very successful. She has a very thorough knowledge of the Internet, social media, the spirit of the Internet, the fashion victims who are devoted her blog. An honour of merit.
No articles, no editing to be paid, no claim of culture, nothing. The Blonde Salad does not even offer any kind of content. Just outfits, and an outfit blog is just that: outfits.

Even with appropriate caveats, all the blogs in the ranking are more or less clones of The Blonde Salad: they are all outfit blogs (which are evidently more relevant to Internet users).

The ranking contained in this article is valid for one month. It therefore expires in late December. We will update it regularly.
